Wands for your Wand

Hi, my name is Don and I LOVE to masturbate. I'm pretty sure that will be the epitaph on my tombstone. I'm a 52 year old inked daddy bear and I've been taking care of business for over 40 years now. I guess you could say I've got some experience. I am always looking for new and unique things to incorporate into stroking. Today, I'm going to share a review of some devices that will bring new intensity and excitement to your bate sessions.

Wands wands everywhere. Massage wands that is. These vibrating sticks of pleasure may become your new best friend. There are a wide variety of wands available in many different price ranges and features. I am going to review some of the top names in a variety of price ranges with a variety of features.

Aren't massage wands for lady parts, you ask. Why yes, they are extremely popular with the ladies. It seems that a good massage wand gets the vibrations just right on the clitoris and by all reports, send women into peals of ecstasy. I've read many reviews by women, for women about the joys of the massage wand. Yay! A toy that helps women achieve mind numbing orgasms. But what about men? Do we get a piece of the massage wand action? Hell yeah we do!

You can use a wand naked (not you, the wand silly) (ok maybe you AND the wand) or you can use an attachment like the Hummingbird. Without the attachment, pressing the fat head of the wand against your fat head can be amazing. You can move the wand around to get to just the right spot. With the Hummingbird attachment, you have a clear, flexible sleeve that attaches to the head of your wand. You slide your well lubed cock into the Hummingbird, turn on your wand and be prepared for amazement.

Massage wands can be broken down into two categories. Cordless and wired (or mains powered). Both have their benefits and drawbacks. Knowing what they are will help you pick the one that's just right for you. Fortunately, my recent obsession with wands has allowed me to try a number of different brands and models, so you can skip right to the mind numbing orgasms.

Wired or mains powered wands tend to be the most intense. Plugging your wand into a the wall gives your wand the most intense vibration on your unit. Of course, the drawback is you are limited by the need to have an outlet handy. All the models I've tried have fairly long cords, but still you will have a cord connecting you to the juice. Cordless/rechargeable wands are also an option. These tend to have less intense vibration, while at the same time offering more vibration patterns.

Today, we're going to talk about two cordless and two wired wands. They all have pluses and minuses. So here we go.

First up, the Shibari MEGA Deluxe wand. This wand is about $35 on Amazon, and quite honestly, you get what you pay for. The vibrations were super mild. The 28 different speeds was really more of a gimmick. Most of the speeds were so close to the others, you probably really only have half a dozen really unique speeds and patterns. I used it once and returned it to Amazon. If you want to dabble in the massage wand game, you could start with this, but personally, it just didn't do it for me.

The next cordless/rechargeable model I tried (and love) is the Lelo Large Smart Wand. This unit sells for approximately $160 on Amazon. The vibration patterns of this model are the most extensive of all the models I've tried. Three buttons to control the settings, quick and easy to recharge, and oh yeah, COMPLETELY waterproof. That's right, you can take this baby in the shower, out at the pool, in the hot tub. That is versatility. The vibrations of this unit are probably the most “thuddy” of all. The vibrations tend to drive deep into you own wand and provide amazing sensations. You will get a lot more variety with this unit. It is definitely significantly more powerful and versatile than the Shibari, but like I said, you get what you pay for.

Their drawbacks of the Lelo are as follows. It is rechargeable so if you are like me and like to edge for hours at a time, you may run out of juice and would need to stop your session and wait the two hours to recharge. Also, although it does have awesome vibration patterns and intensities, it still doesn't pack the most intense power of a corded wand. Sometimes, though, variety is more important than intensity. I love having this baby in my arsenal.

The corded wands have the most intense vibrations, will not run out of a charge in the middle of your session, and are the most sturdy. They do not have the extensive vibration patterns like the Lelo Smart Wand, but make up for that in intensity.

The Original Magic Wand (previously the Hitachi Magic Wand) is probably the most well known. Women have been using this baby to achieve intense orgasms reliably for years now. The wand has only two settings. Damn and Holy Shit. Both settings are plenty intense. I purchased mine from Amazon with a controller box that allows for variable intensity rather than just the two. This unit with the control box cost me about $55 on Amazon. I don't hate this unit but it also isn't my favorite. The vibrations are really buzzy. If you use it on the highest setting for an extended time, the buzzy vibrations could cause your cock to become a little numb. If you can get there before the numbness, Yay! If you get numb first, no bueno. It will definitely do the trick, far better than the Shibari for only $20 more than that model. Note, the corded models are NOT waterproof. No shower sessions with these.

The last model I will tell you about is the Doxy. The Doxy is a UK based

manufacturer. Doxy has an excellent reputation for customer service which is important when you are paying top dollar for a toy. It combines some of the best features of the Lelo Smart Wand and the Original Magic Wand. There are two versions of the Doxy. I purchased my Doxy and Doxy Die Cast from shevibe.com. They have the best prices, are an authorized dealer and have excellent customer service. The original Doxy will run you about $109, while the Doxy Die Cast, their premium massager, will run you $189. The Doxy has more “thuddy vibrations” more similar to the Lelo than the Magic Wand. It also has more intensity settings. And on its highest intensity is significantly more intense than the Lelo. There is also a setting that will ramp up the intensity and you can adjust how steep/fast the ramp is. It's not as varied as the Lelo, but being a corded wand, what it lacks in patterns, it makes up for with sheer power. The Doxy is my regular wand. I use it on a regular basis to edge, and have gone for hours until I let the wand make my eyes roll back in my head and my cock contract in wave after wave of the most intense pleasure my cock has ever felt (well maybe not the most intense, that would be reserved for E-stim, which is a whole different post). The differences between the Doxy and the Doxy Die Cast are the way they're made. The Doxy has a PVC type head which is better than the Magic wand for sure but still plastic. The Die Cast has a beautiful black silicone head that is super soft and supple to the touch. The Doxy is made of plastic and metal, while the Die Cast is just what you'd think, die cast aluminum. The Die Cast is also heavier by about half a pound than the Doxy. If money is not an issue, and you want an amazing toy that will last, the Die Cast is your baby. With a Hummingbird attached, I have been able to get my very happy penis to contract in wave after wave of pleasure. My orgasms with any of the wands tend to be longer and more intense with involuntary contractions last long after the “main event”. The Die Cast is definitely the stand out here. Yes it isn't cheap, but cheap and amazing don't often go hand in hand with sex toys. It bears repeating, you get what you pay for.

If you are on a budget, the Original Magic Wand will the variable speed controller is your best bet. If you want to spend a little more, the original Doxy model will not disappoint. If you like having the benefit of waterproof and cordless, and like more thuddy vibrations with a wider range of patterns and intensities, the Lelo Smart Wand is for you. If you want top of the line pleasure, the Doxy Die Cast cannot be beat.

Oh yeah, the good news. The Hummingbird attachment is like $12 on Amazon. There are also a number of other attachments worth mentioning. There is a prostate attachment, and a huge variety of nubs, textures, insertion sizes etc. HitachiMagic.com has a listing of most of the most popular attachments.

So, what's a session look like? Kick back, attach your Hummingbird, lube it up really well (water based lube will not degrade the material) slide you hard unit into your lubed massager and let the good times roll. Don't be afraid to slide your wand around. Stroking and vibration combined is a glorious thing. Take your time. I like to edge with mine because I don't like quick and dirty. On the other hand, if you want quick and dirty, you can achieve an intense orgasm fairly quickly.

The most important thing, have fun. Use this tool to explore what makes you feel good. Even better, use it with someone who you like being naked with. If you have a more intense side, using this on someone else while ramping up the intensity while they squirm is a thing of beauty.

No matter what you decide, have fun. Life is too short not to enjoy good sexual health and good sexual health means enjoying your own body when and where you want.

Happy stroking!
