What really happens during an all male Orgasmic Yoga session?

First off, one must ask oneself what is Orgasmic Yoga? Well, this is a practice that was created by Sexological Bodyworker Joseph Kramer. It is a communal experience of sexuality and expression.

Picture this, a sacred circle where people (in this case all male identified) come together and pick a spot in the circle, one could fancy up their little station with pillows, sheets, towels, lubes, toys, etc.

There is typically about a 40-60 minute playlist of music and during that time the men in the room can use breath, movement, noise and lots of touch. Just one thing... its self touch! One of the two "rules" of an orgasmic yoga session is self touch, this is about making oneself aroused and being part of the energetic sexual energy that is present. The other "rule" is soft eye gaze. It is always nice to sit and stare during these moments but the point of an "O.Y." session is to really be present with oneself.

I myself have been a participant of many orgasmic yoga sessions, with mixed genders and all male. I have also facilitated O.Y. sessions, from larger groups to small intimate groups. Music is essential and good communication to the attendees to let them know they are safe and can really explore their voice, body and sexuality.

So many of us have grown up to keep masturbation hidden and quiet. This practice is about opening up box of shame and inviting freedom. To just let go!

Now, I know what you think? You get a group of men (gay or bisexual) in a room and tell them its okay to strip down, get hard and boff off in front of each other while dancing around sounds strange. Sounds like a circle jerk! But just think about it, back in days of boy scouts or playing with your friends in your basement as young man. It was about exploration, playfulness and freedom. The whole act was about expressing oneself. Then at some point it became something that was done alone, quiet and not to be talked about.

So now to be part of an Orgasmic Yoga session with other men can be about liberation and being present with stimulation, sensuality and bliss of self love without having to depend on another physically to attain that arousal (what ever that may be for each person).

I have been at O.Y. sessions and just put blankets over my head completely dressed and spent the whole 40 minutes making alien noises and then there have been other sessions where I got completely naked and danced around the room and had the most amazing orgasm. All is welcome, self expression is encouraged!

At first off during the session people may seem a little hesitant or awkward, most men typically just want to sit, but as a leader sometimes I get the ball rolling and will stand up and start to dance and move around. I almost always shut my eyes for a second and then when I open them I notice the whole room is doing the same, its amazing the synchronicity that happens during an O.Y. session, one starts to moan or make noise, then the room follows. One man will start to thrust his hips the rest will follow. The carnal activity just creates itself.

Typically at several minutes before the music ends the facilitator (I love calling myself the "Gentleman Caller") will announce that the last song will be playing. At this point I typically see the people in the room go into a frenzy of erotic bliss. Once the music ends, there is a period of "Savoring" which is super important because its essential to just lay in savasana pose and just witness the beautiful energy you have created. This an opportunity to allow oneself to be with all the feelings, physical and emotional that comes forth with the practice.

Once its over, the energy has changed in the room, everyone seems closer, transformed.

My favorite part is after everyone has gotten dressed, to have the opportunity to look each man in the eye and give them a big hug. This acknowledgment of brotherhood and healing will always be something we shared.

Maybe you think you would like to experience an Orgasmic Yoga Session? Then maybe we can get a circle in your town!
